Spring is finally here and we were craving for it so when I was proposed to go to the south coast I didn’t even think of my answer and yelled YES! We prepared our backpacks, bought some saucisson sec, rosemary bread, spread cheese and strawberries for our lunch time picnic in Seven Sister’s white clay cliffs.
We travelled early from London so we could hike with time enough but we first did a quick stop at Bertie & Boo to have our daily dose of iced latte; one of my favourite cold drinks when hot outdoors! Obviously, cold horchata is the other one –yummy! I really like how the guys at Bertie & Boo prepare it and I enjoyed in the cosy terrace.
Later on, we got to Seaford where wo walked from along the cliffs and –oh my god– nothing like breathing fresh air, feeling the sunlight sinking in your skin and doing some nice exercise outdoors. I was impressed that the cliffs weren’t packed (something you can expect anywhere in London at any time) and how clean the lands were!
After a couple of hours walking towards to the top of the cliffs and going down, we decided to stop in a quiet grass field to deploy our linen blanket and start having our food whilst enjoying the sea breeze, the spring warm light and the sound of the waves beating the cliffs. I really felt I was on holidays somewhere far from England!
I chose to wear a light outfit as the thermometer hit 27ºC –and for those who don’t live in the UK, that’s extremely hot in April… We only dream of those temperatures in June-July; I wore my very comfortable shorts by Zara, basic t-shirt from H&M and a faux-jean shirt by Pull & Bear. Cap from Bershka and trainers from Adidas.
